Each year July 12th, the Mound Bayou Civic Club celebrates the founding of Mound Bayou with a Founder’s Day program.  This year, in addition to the celebration, we will celebrate the opening of the first Museum in Mound Bayou celebrating the history of one of the most important African American founded community in the country.

The celebration begins Friday July 9th with a Meet and Greet reception at the former John F Kennedy High School Library from 5 – 8 pm.  Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will start and 11 am July 10th at the school’s gym where we will recognize all the elected officials and conduct tours of the museum and the town until 5 pm.  Founders Day Church Service will be held July 11th at the High School Gym Sunday at 5 pm.  Graveside service will be at the founder’s grave in the Mound Bayou Commons cemetery, Monday, July 12th at 6 pm
